Getting to know Liana Gilleland, Republican Candidate for East Coventry Township Supervisor (Election Day is November 7, 2023)
by Dorene Pasekoff, East Coventry Advocacy President, eastcoventrypa.org
Liana Gilleland has been a resident of East Coventry Township since her family moved from North Coventry to East Coventry when she was 7. Her family was excited about moving to East Coventry for the increased open space and having less ambient light so they could see the stars at night.
While at OJR High School (she graduated in 2017), she was on the cheerleading team and received the Coaches Award. From 2017 to 2019, she served as Assistant Coach. She holds clearances for Child Abuse, USA Cheer Safety and Risk Management.
Gilleland is hearing impaired; she reads lips, wears hearing aids and actively supports the Hearing Loss Association of America. She received the first scholarship awarded by the Hearing Loss Association of America’s Chester County chapter and is enthusiastic about the organization and its support.
Her day job is Manager at the Gap Factory Store at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets. She is a member of the Young Republicans of Chester County, Republican Women of Chester County and has volunteered with the party since 2016, including doing literature drops and volunteering at the polls.
The current issues she believes are important in East Coventry Township are: the FPR/Waste Pit issue, Transparency from elected officials on issues facing the Township and Fiscal Responsibility with taxpayer money. She also looks forward to working with the Township’s Police Department to keep parks and trails clean and safe and working with neighboring Township officials to increase revenue opportunities without raising taxes If elected, Liana wants to Adopt-A-Highway and have the community members select the road.S
